Evan Bailey 14th Dan

Background

Evan is the head instructor at the South Australian Bujinkan Ninjutsu Dojo.

He commenced training in the Bujinkan in 1995, is a licensed Bujinkan instructor and member of the Shidoshi Kai. Evan passed the 5th Dan Sakki test with Hatsumi Sensei in the Hombu Dojo in September 2005.

In January 2012 Evan was recommended for Judan (10th Dan) by Nagato Sensei, Noguchi Sensei and Robin Doenicke. To continue his training Evan travels to Japan each year to train with Grandmaster Hatsumi Sensei. While staying in Japan Evan also trained with the other masters of the Art including Nagato Sensei, Noguchi Sensei, Senno Sensei, Someya Sensei and Shiraishi Sensei.

Evan also organizes regular Adelaide seminars with high profile international instructors who travel to the Dojo to share their wealth of knowledge and experience. Over the recent years this has included Shihan's Robin Doenicke, Michael Pearce, Phillip Legare and Tim Bathurst. This combination of training allows Evan to continue to focus on his own training while maintaining regular exposure to the teachings of Hatsumi Sensei.

To complement his training in the Bujinkan, Evan regularly travels with students to train with law enforcement officers and elite military personnel around the world. This includes training directly with counter terrorist units, government firearms/tactics instructors, less lethal munitions instructors, Federal Police, presidential CPP bodyguards and experts in the de-escalation of violence.

Evan has also studied at a number of high profile tactical schools across the world (Australia, USA, South America) including the prestigious Gunsite Academy in Arizona USA. Due to his background and training Evan teaches elements of the Australian Defence Force.

This training provides an opportunity for Evan and students of the dojo to continue learning from the experiences of people who put themselves in the most dangerous places on the earth on a daily basis. While this kind of training is not essential to training in the Bujinkan, Evan feels that it dramatically assists practitioners to further understand themselves, the world we live in and the martial traditions that make up the Bujinkan.

In all aspects of life, Evan is committed to helping people improve themselves and develop the skills they require to survive and prosper in the ever changing world we live in. This not only calls for mastery of Martial Arts, but in all aspects of life equally.
