Steven Gould 6th Dan

Steven began his interest in martial arts at the age of 6, when he started studying Judo. Steve participated in many Judo competitions, often winning his weight category. Steve continued to train in Judo until he was 14 before moving on to Karate and Tae Kwon Do. In 1998 Steve found the Bujinkan and has been training in this art since that time. After training in two other Bujinkan Dojos, in 2002 Steven met Evan Bailey and is now a Senior Instructor of the South Australian Bujinkan Ninjutsu Dojo. Steven has enjoyed an extensive security career, including celebrity and sports personality body guarding, corporate functions security, detective positions and leading a security team at an Adelaide 5 star hotel for 3 years. During this time Steven’s training in the Bujinkan proved itself time and time again as an extremely effective art form. Between 1998 and 2002, Steven worked in conjunction with the Special Task And Rescue Group of the South Australian Police Force, (known as STAR Division), assisting in firearm combat tactics, high-rise rescues, and hostage negotiation techniques. He completed over 100 training missions in the lead up to the 2,000 Olympics and preparations for the year 2,000 computer bug (Y2K) scare.

In 2011, Steve travelled to Argentina with the South Australian Bujinkan Ninjutsu Dojo. During this trip Steve and the other members of the Dojo trained extensively with Willy Iglesia in the Bujinkan Argentina Dojo along with a number of federal agencies and counter terrorist units. This training saw Steve and other members of the South Australian Bujinkan Ninjutsu Dojo complete courses in the following:

  • Police Edged Weapons
  • Precision Rifle Essentials
  • Glock Armourer
  • Police Action Pistol
  • Police Tactical Shotgun
  • Tactical First Responder
  • VIP Close Personal Protection

While in Argentina Steve also competed in an IPSC Shooting competition where he was the highest ranked foreigner in the Police Action pistol event.

Steven enjoys training in very traditional way, and travels to Japan every year to train with Grandmaster Hatsumi. While in Japan in January 2012 Steven he passed the Godan (5th Dan) test and is now a Shidoshi (Licensed Bujinkan Instructor). Steven now travels around the world (due to his work commitments) for 6 months of the year and spends the rest of his time in Adelaide with his family and training at the South Australian Bujinkan Ninjutsu Dojo.
